Getting around in Tuscany

Dear Friends

received many e-mails from fans the blog wondering what the best way to discover Tuscany and especially if it is necessary or not to travel by car, for this reason I am attaching the following information:

1 - In the event that your trip provides only the visit of Florence City and a day dedicated to Siena and San Gimignano I advise avoiding the car! Florence is a relatively small town that should be known on foot, on the other hand, access to cars in the historic city center is not allowed so we rented a car to see Florence not only would be an unnecessary expense but also you would have parking problems . Being a city of 1500 is not prepared logistically with sufficient parking and parking lots. Communications with

Siena and San Gimigano are excellent and there are buses every hour.

2 - If ye will know the real Tuscany, small towns and beautiful countryside is essential to travel by car, and that the only way you can learn the most beautiful places in the region where no public transport you could take.

As always I hope this information will be helpful in preparing your trip! Greetings

Margie
