Dear Friends, I want to talk today
one of the least visited cities by tourists in Tuscany, despite their rich and interesting history and its historical town with interesting monuments and works of art that the nobles of Italian history have left in this small town in central northern Italy.
Arrival in Arezzo is easy, you can park easily at the train station which has a relatively large car park and then easily walk to the historic center and main street of the city.
Arezzo, from my point has several attractions in one visit a week you can not miss:
1 - Chiesa di San Domenico:
This church is located in the "uptown" is the furthest point where the parking. For this reason I advise to start your visit to the city from here. The Church, typically Romanesque, founded in 1275 still contains a large crucifix by Cimabue. This work is of great historical importance because Cimabue is among the early medieval artists gave movement to the forms.
2 - Casa Vasari
The second point of interest is the Casa del Vasari. The Vasari was an artist, architect and author of biographies of Italian artists of 1500 He lived in Arezzo during the period of maximum splendor of Tuscany. La casa del Vasari, full of symbols of the zodiac and the tarot is undoubtedly one of the most interesting places to visit in this beautiful city.
3 - Basilica di San Francesco
This Church is very near the home of important paintings by Vasari preserved Piero della Francesca master of perspective in Italian painting from 1500.
4 -
Piazza Grande in Arezzo's visit can be concluded also known as Piazza Grande Piazza Vasari. The Plaza is probably the most famous landmark of the city. In this place was probably the Roman Forum. On the west side of the square stands the Pieve di Santa Maria, a beautiful building who plays 3 different styles, Romanesque, Gothic and Rinacimental.
On the north side of the square is the Palazzo delle Logge, designed in 1573 by Giorgio Vasari and where you can eat at the excellent restaurant called "le logge the Vasari" on the south side of the square there are several houses of wealthy families the city and the palace Cofani or Brizzolari.
In the middle of the square is a source bellissima 1500 that appears in many films, including the famous "Life is Beautiful" won an Oscar in 1996 with Roberto Benigni.
the beautiful square in Arezzo, each year there is an important medieval festival where the city's neighborhoods compete with each other, it is Saracino the famous festival of which you can see the images.
As always, I hope this is helpful. Sincerely
Giovanni
